More control does not lead to higher research quality. The Young Academy of Sweden is critical of the proposal to reorganize the governments external research funding. The proposal risks making research short-sighted and less relevant for society.

The Young Academy of Sweden has submitted its consultation response to the investigation New Organizational Structure for Research and Innovation Funding (SOU 2023:59), also known as the FoFin Investigation. We also summarize our main critique in an op-ed in Curie Magazine.
